Pig Dinner 2015

We had a good turnout, an intense speaker, good fellowship, a blowout on the football field, and a lot of Brotherhood.

The day started with a delicious brunch at 707. There was lots of socializing  as classmates caught up with Brothers not seen since college. Check out the pictures from the Brunch to see how many you can recognize.

The weather was great, and lots of reconnecting with Brothers getting ready for the game. The group of Erley, Melick, Harris, Pierce and Hans have been doing this for years, and this year was yet another good time.

The Wolverines went on to thump a good Northwestern team 38-0 for their third straight shutout game this season. The band

had an exceptional halftime show including the Philadelphia Philharmonic Orchestra as part of the band.

More than 20 Brothers went to the game.

We had 40 Grad Brothers and 20 Ugrad Brothers and 3 Guests this year. This is nearly double the 34 Brothers that attended last year. Check out the list of attendees,

If you weren’t there, your classmates missed you.

The evening started with a good social hour while we gathered the Brothers returning from the Football game. The traditional

Pig Kissing ceremonies were dutifully performed by Bob Brungraber ‘51 and Sam Reach ‘18. Brother Bob, in fact, made his first trip back to Pig Dinner this year so he could kiss the snout. When he was in school, he caught the “south” end at two different dinners, because he was so young.

While presenting his latest book, “Endzone: The Rise, Fall, and Return of Michigan Football”. He gave a practical message that spoke clearly to the Ugrads about the importance of personal relationships in business. John, graciously signed copies of his book for all the attendees. The lateness of the exciting Northwestern football game compressed the evening so that reconnecting displaced some of the more traditional Pig Dinner Events.

measurable part of the increase in our attendance. He is an energetic, well-informed, and compelling speaker.

Acting Chapter President, Dan Reilly gave a short state-of-the-chapter message, and then presented this year’s Chapter Awards. The stipends with the awards totaled several thousand dollars to the recipients, in addition to the regular Scholarship awards, based solely on grades, from our tax-exempt Michigan Foundation totaling over $15,000. We hope you can make Pig Dinner in 2016.

Then it was time to head to the traditional Erley Tailgate Party.

During pregame, Brother Bob Spaly ‘65, as an All-Big Ten wrestler, was recognized  with the 1965 Michigan Big Ten Champion Wrestling team that won the National Championship that year
